Kiak Seafoods is owned and operated by commercial fisherman John Pierszalowski and his wife, Barbara Nowlin. John has been a commercial fisherman on Kodiak Island, Alaska since 1969. He hitch-hiked from his hometown of Northridge, CA after he graduated high school, and has been going up every summer since. Starting in 2005, John and Barbara have started bringing some salmon home to sell at local farmer's markets. After this specially-selected fish is caught, it is kept frozen right until it is under their farmer's market umbrella. Alaska wild salmon was the first species to be awarded the Marine Stewardship Council's seal of approval as a sustainably caught fish. Come visit John and Barb to see the beautiful product that was caught by this local Cambria, CA surfer/commercial fisherman.
